Treasures.

We all have friends, family and colleagues. Some we love, some we fall in love with and some we just get along with.

Then there are people, who you think of all the time, but can't stand the thought of at other times. (may be I am just weird!!!)

We often shower people we love and with a lot more attention, when we know they are going to go away, be it temporary or permanently. My question is, why does it have to be that way, before we give them the extra attention.

Take, for example, our own parents. We are accustomed to be with them, since our birth. It never crosses our minds, that they are not going to be with us forever. We almost take them for granted that they are always going to be with us, cause they have been with us all this while.

The reality is, they will be gone some day and will never return. Nothing is every going to prepare us for the inevitable. Instead of leaving it to the last minute, why not give them the extra attention now, show the extra bit of love.. Now.

I am not just talking about our parents, I am talking about friends, our partners, lovers, wives, husbands, boy friends, girlfriends... Whoever.. It is an undeniable fact, that we take some, at some stage in life, for granted. When the very thing that means a lot to us is taken, we then realise what we stood to loose, a bit too late ofcourse.

My point, don't get too hung up on the future and miss what you have in front of you. What might have been is a nice though, but what might have been, is never gonna be. GET OVER IT. Show that little bit extra respect and love and you have nothing to lose.

Treasure your friends, cause they are the siblings that our parents couldn't give us. Treasure your family, cause they help define you. Treasure your life, cause there is always more to life that what we know or think or feel is important. This is exactly why, I think of all my friends, as Treasures and keep them that way.

To all my friends and family, I love you.

Oh that's soooooooooo sweet, momok. I like what you said about friends. It's so true and also very poetic, maybe you should make this story into a poem.

Taking things for granted is an integral part of human relationships be it between parents or friends or otherwise.

In one sense it is sad because it shouldn't be like that. In another sense it should happen because it shows a certain degree of familiarity and comfortability (sp?!).

An example: you'd say "please" and "thank you" and "you're welcome" to a stranger you met but you might easily forget that part when you're having dinner at home with your parents. In other words you take that bit for granted, the fact that some things don't need to be said.

Thank you Hannah :-). you are too flattering.. (ok, ok.. if I won lotto, I will sponsor you as well :-D)

Darwin, I was meaning a little more than sayin (or not) thank you and please.. I meant taking the whole "being" as granted. But your point is taken, thank you for your comments, much appreciated.
