Is it Fate or Faith?
I am not going to start this blogg, by quoting an obscure statement, written by some one who no one seems to know or care about, instead ask a question. A simple one at that.
What is your Star sign?
Almost everyone knows what star sign they are and can relate to. There are thousands and thousands of website, books and articles which give you untold amounts of information regarding this and I somehow don't think I am qualified to debate about the signs.
However, I have a concern that I would like to share with you all.
I am an Arien, and I can relate well to the traits that my star sign says that I should have. I have no arguments there. Likewise, I am sure you find yourself fit to your star sign. So far, so good.
My concern is, when people seem to think that star sign and horoscopes are one and the same. handsup, those who religiously read their daily horoscope!!!
I was talking to a lady friend of mine a few days ago. She is having trouble with her married life and all the emotions that she is going through and wanted to talk to someone and of all people she choose me to confide in. I am flattered, but I am not the most qualified there either.. But I do what I can and what I am good at, listen. It is during a phase in this conversation (which lasted more than 2 hrs should I add) she mentioned, that her husband was telling her things, like how she is going to suffer and that her horoscope says that she will lead a miserable life if she leaves him and that she is really worried about that!!! Now what kind of bollocks is that.
I honestly think that horoscopes are a joke. I think what really happens, is, when we read our horoscope and if it says that you are going to have a happy day, you subconsciously set about doing things that make you happy. The same applies to the opposite as well. Horoscopes just play on our insecurities. We make things happens only cause it says so.. Which leads us to believe that horoscopes must be for real and follow it religiously.
It took me a lot of effort to convince her that horoscopes have nothing to do with what you are doing and that YOU make or break your own life. I find it silly for people to have blind faith in such things and it annoys me no end!!!!!
We need to have faith in ourselves if we are to make something of our lives and not leave everything to fate, if there is such a thing. We do what we can, and nature takes it course. We cannot control everything, we can only try to do the rite thing and in the best way we know how.
What ya reckon????

I have to admit, I read my horoscope.
Only on The Onion though, because its absolutely hilarious.
Check out what it says for me this week:
Sagittarius
While pleased with the progress you've been making in your anger-management course, you will suffer a tremendous setback this week after realizing it's actually a basket-weaving class you've been attending all this time.

other than that, I reckon horoscopes are utter BS. Why should you let some mystical positioning of the stars affect the way you want to live your life and the choices that you want to make?
Im really fortunate because no one in my family pays the slightest attention to horoscopes. There was one made for me when I was born, thats tradition, but otherwise no one cares about it at all. Even my parents never looked at their horoscopes before they got married.
I very firmly believe that DESTINY IS BY CHOICE AND NOT BY CHANCE. I do not care to find out what the stars have in store for me for each day because frankly, I dont give a dam :) It seems an easy way to shrug off responsiblity of choice and to let someone/something else make all the decisions for you. That doesnt work for me. Its my life and I wil make the choices that I want and live with the consequences.
Totally TOTALLY agree with the two of you. I was just thinking about the same sort of thing before... a lot of people think what happens to them as something to do with fate (or God) and they choose to put all their faith in some divine being or concept... I've always found it hard not to challenge those believes - I told a very religious friend of mine that I have more faith in myself than anything else - I was told that I was very arrogant. But I stand by what I said - you have to have faith in yourself and what you can do, and even if there was such thing as fate then you can always change it, you can fight it and you can decide what's going to happen to you. It's much more real to believe in yourself and people than some strange, abstract concept that's supposed to explain everything.
Anyway... horoscope HA! Yeah, right... I never make an effort to read my daily or monthly horoscope but when one is thrown in my way I'd read it and you know what? EVERY SINGLE TIME it will say something like: A new romance is coming your way... be prepared to be swept off your feet... a surprise will fill your days with unexpected, wonderful romantic feelings...
And I can tell you this - none of it, and I mean NONE OF IT - has ever happend to me, so there.
Seriously cute photo, by the way.
I am glad you guys see what I mean and feel the same.. although someone who would argue for the other side would have made things a lot more interesting..
That cute photo, is me when I was that small :-)
Hmm, growing up has changed your appearance a bit - you don't look so timid and scared, as though a big monster is trying to swoop down on you anymore.
But still cute though :-)

A prof of mine once described us as being "a generation of skeptics that read the horoscope."
And, I have to confess that I regularly glance at the horoscope as I make my way to the crossword when I read the paper in the morning. As to why I do it? Partly because I'm curious, I suppose. And partly because I like to think at the end of the day, "Well that's another one that didn't come true."
Or maybe I'm just more superstitious than I like to admit?
I shall be a faithful clicker from now on Momok!
It is the height of human arrogance to contemplate, even for a moment, that celestial bodies actually give a damn about our insignificant little lives and we can actually predict the future according to planetary movements.
Well said Darwin, perhaps we can add "Ignorance" along with the "height of Arrogance"
